Baghdad Still Waiting For Oil Companies To Agree Contract Changes

An Iraqi government spokesperson has said that Baghdad is still waiting for oil companies formally to agree to changes in their contracts to develop several major fields in the country. The announcement by Ali al-Dabbagh contradicts a statement by the oil ministry on December 30 that all the oil firms had agreed to technical and legal amendments to their contracts that were introduced in order to ensure the deals' compliance with Iraqi law.
