South Stream Has Zagreb In Its Sights

Croatia could join the South Stream gas pipeline project as early as Q110, the CEO of Russian gas export monopoly Gazprom, Alexander Medvedev, told the Southeast European Times (SET) on January 11. A new source of piped gas from Russia would raise serious doubts over the feasibility of the Adria liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on the Croatian island of Krk, undermining energy supply diversification efforts in south east Europe.
