Essar Bets On CBM In West Bengal

The upstream unit of Indian refiner Essar Oil is aiming to begin supplying Kolkata with gas from coal bed methane (CBM) in April 2010. The progress of Essar's CBM project in West Bengal will be keenly watched by India's main hydrocarbon producers, which are seeking new sources of gas to feed the country's runaway demand.
