MEND Calls Off Ceasefire

Nigerian militant group the Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has called off a unilateral ceasefire that has been in place since October 25 2009. The decision was announced in a January 29 email to journalists from MEND spokesperson Jomo Gbomo, who declared an 'all-out onslaught' against the installations and personnel of oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region.
