Court Overturns Israel Gas Exports Ban

The Supreme Administrative Court of Egypt has overturned a ruling by a lower court to ban gas exports to Israel. The supreme court ruled on February 27 that the lower court was acting outside its jurisdiction when it ordered the export ban in November 2008. The verdict, which cannot be appealed, brings an end to a year-long legal dispute between the government and a group of lawyers that had accused it of selling gas to Israel at below-market prices.
