Tehran And Islamabad Sign Deal For Iran-Pakistan Pipeline

The Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline has taken a major step towards realisation with the signing of an operational agreement between Tehran and Islamabad in Turkey on March 16. The agreement follows a preliminary deal between the countries in June 2009 and a pricing settlement in September. Now that the contract has been signed, construction work at the long-delayed project could begin this year and the pipeline could begin operations in 2014, according to a Pakistani foreign ministry spokesperson cited by the Wall Street Journal.
