Ramírez Ramps Up Attack On Idle Drillers, Further Expropriations In Store

Five oil rigs operated by US major Chevron have been earmarked as the next potential expropriation targets in the Venezuelan government's nationalisation drive. On June 23, oil minister Rafael Ramírez said that the state would take over 11 idle rigs owned by Helmerich & Payne (H&P) after failing to resolve a pay dispute with the US-based driller.
