Ghanem Attributes Upward Revision Of Reserves To Exploratory Success

Libya's top energy official has claimed a 1.26bn barrel (bbl) rise in proven oil reserves and a 50bn cubic metre (bcm) rise in proven gas reserves, on the back of successes at new exploratory wells drilled in the country in 2009 and H110. The announcement, if confirmed, presents upside risks to our Libyan oil and gas reserve forecasts, and comes as Italian authorities continue to voice concern about the environmental risks of deepwater drilling off Libya's Mediterranean
