Industry Trend Analysis - Short-Term Gain, Long-Term Pain - OCT 2017

BMI View: The realisation of a healthy project pipeline will support gas production growth over the next three years. In the longer term, a lack of investment, rising domestic demand and heavy decline rates from Algeria ' s larger gas fields will pressure total output and weigh on export volumes.

Medium Term Gas Production To Improve

Having experienced positive growth over 2016, we expect Algerian gas output to improve again in 2017 as a number of projects are brought online. In the medium-term, gas production will experience steady growth, however towards the end of our forecast period, rising domestic demand and a lack of investment needed to address decline rates at the country's larger fields will combine to weigh on output.
